Damaskos Byzantine Filigree 18K Gold Bangle with Gemstones
A hinged 18K gold bangle worked in Byzantine filigree and finished with a hand-hammered martillé surface that gives the gold a soft, velvety texture. Set with peridot, citrine, and four 1.80mm diamonds. Black platinum detailing and granulation complete the surface.
About The Product
This hinged bangle is built around two techniques that define Damaskos’s Byzantine work: filigree — fine gold wire shaped and soldered into open lattice patterns — and a martillé finish, achieved by hand-hammering the gold surface to create a velvety, light-diffusing texture. The combination gives the piece visual depth that changes under different light.
Crafted in 18K gold with black platinum detailing, the bangle weighs 15 grams and is set with natural peridot, citrine, and four round diamonds at 1.80mm each. Granulation — the technique of fusing tiny gold spheres onto the surface without solder, a process traced back to ancient Greek metalwork — appears alongside the filigree as a secondary texture. The hinge construction allows the bangle to open cleanly and sit close to the wrist. Every element is shaped by hand in the Damaskos atelier.
Damaskos has worked from Athens for decades, drawing on Byzantine and Archaic goldsmithing traditions that predate modern jewelry manufacturing entirely. This bangle pairs naturally with other pieces from the Damaskos Byzantine line — rings, earrings, and necklaces in the same motif family. It is also available in all gold, without the black platinum finish, for those who prefer a warmer overall tone.
