Damaskos Archaic Spiral Medallion 18K Gold Bracelet
18K gold with a hand-hammered martillé finish that produces a velvety, light-diffusing texture. The surface is worked with granulation and the Spira — the spiral motif that has appeared continuously in Greek art since the Archaic period. Braided construction. Entirely handcrafted in the Damaskos atelier in Athens.
About The Product
The Archaic Spiral Medallion Bracelet is built around the Spira — the spiral form that recurs across Greek art from the Bronze Age forward, read as a symbol of continuity and renewal. A central medallion anchors the design; the surrounding braid gives the piece structure without weight. It reads differently from the more geometric Byzantine pieces in the Damaskos line.
The bracelet is worked in 18K gold and finished using the martillé technique — a hand-hammering process that leaves a finely textured, matte-to-lustrous surface sometimes described as velvety. The effect absorbs and returns light differently than a polished surface, giving the gold a depth that changes under different conditions. Granulation — the application of minute gold spheres, a technique documented in ancient Greek goldsmithing — appears as detailing alongside the spiral. The piece weighs 15 grams, a substantive presence on the wrist without being heavy.
Damaskos is an Athenian atelier whose work draws directly from archaeological sources — museum collections, excavated originals, historical pattern records — rather than from contemporary interpretations of antiquity. Each piece is made by hand in Athens. The Spiral Medallion Bracelet is designed for daily wear and pairs naturally with other pieces from the Damaskos line, including coordinating rings, earrings, and necklaces. It is the kind of piece that accumulates meaning over time.
