Damaskos Byzantine 18K Gold Stud Earrings with Peridot
Curved stud earrings in 18K gold with a hand-hammered martillé finish, black platinum detailing, and twisted wire rope work. Set with natural peridot, citrine, and eight round diamonds (1.80mm each). Each pair is shaped and finished entirely by hand in the Damaskos atelier.
About The Product
These curved stud earrings from Damaskos are built around the contrast between matte black platinum and warm 18K gold — a pairing that defines the house’s Byzantine aesthetic. The curved form is set with natural peridot and citrine alongside eight round diamonds, each measuring 1.80mm, creating a restrained play of color across the surface.
The earrings are worked in granulation, twisted wire rope, and hand-hammered martillé — three techniques with roots in ancient Greek goldsmithing. Granulation involves fusing tiny spheres of gold onto a surface without solder, a process requiring precise heat control. Twisted wire rope is drawn and coiled by hand to create structured linear borders. The martillé finish is applied by hammer to produce a velvety, light-scattering texture that distinguishes handmade work from cast or machine-finished pieces. All metalwork is in 18K gold.
Damaskos is an Athenian atelier with decades of continuous practice in pre-classical and Byzantine goldsmithing traditions. These earrings pair naturally with other pieces from the Byzantine collection — a ring, necklace, or bracelet in the same design language — and are suited to both daily wear and formal occasions. Also available in all gold without the black platinum detailing.
