Damaskos Byzantine Floral 18K Gold Drop Earrings with Rubies
Drop earrings in 18K gold, each suspending a pair-shaped ruby of 4x3mm from a hand-crafted Minoan rosette (Rodakes). Two round diamonds of 1.80mm accent the mount. The hanging construction adds natural movement to the piece.
About The Product
These drop earrings are built around a Minoan-era design motif: the Rodakes, or rosette — a flower form that appears across ancient Greek goldsmithing and here serves as the anchor from which each ruby teardrop hangs. The pairing of the organic ruby silhouette against the structured, symmetrical rosette is the defining tension of the piece.
Each earring is handcrafted in 18K gold at the Damaskos atelier in Athens. The Rodakes are worked by hand, a technique drawn from ancient Greek metalsmithing in which floral forms are shaped and finished individually rather than cast in volume. Each earring holds one pair-shaped ruby measuring 4x3mm and two round diamonds of 1.80mm each set into the rosette. The hanging drop construction is engineered to move with the wearer — weight is distributed so the ruby sits in motion, not rigid against the lobe.
Damaskos has operated as a specialist atelier in Athens for decades, focusing exclusively on Byzantine and Archaic-period forms reproduced using historically grounded goldsmithing methods. These earrings are suited to both formal occasions and considered everyday wear — the scale is refined enough to carry without ceremony. A piece made to be worn, not stored.
