Damaskos Byzantine 18K Gold Pendant with Emerald & Ruby – Twisted Wire

This pendant is built around a single defining contrast: the quiet depth of a hand-hammered martillé surface set against the precise geometry of twisted wire borders. It is a Byzantine composition — structured, deliberate, and made to be worn rather than preserved.

The martillé finish is achieved by striking the gold surface repeatedly with a specialized hammer, creating a texture that diffuses light rather than reflecting it. Against this matte ground, twisted wire detailing — a technique rooted in ancient Greek goldsmithing — traces the pendant’s edges with controlled intricacy. A natural emerald and a natural ruby, each measuring 2.70mm, are set at the center. The pendant weighs 12.10 grams and is crafted in 18K gold throughout.
