Damaskos Archaic 18K Gold Ring with Diamonds (0,08 ct diamonds)
An 18K gold ring built on the Archaic form, finished with a hand-hammered martillé surface that gives the metal a deep, velvety texture. Black platinum detailing frames four round diamonds totaling 0.08 ct. Made entirely by hand in the Damaskos atelier in Athens.
About The Product
This Archaic ring from Damaskos is distinguished by two elements rarely combined: a martillé-finished 18K gold band darkened with black platinum, and a restrained diamond setting that lets the surface texture carry the design. It sits closer to sculpture than ornament.
The martillé finish is achieved by hand-hammering the gold with a specialized punch, creating a continuous field of micro-indentations that scatter light softly rather than reflect it cleanly — the result is a matte, almost velvety surface with real depth. Black platinum is applied selectively to the recessed areas, sharpening the contrast without overwhelming the form. Four round diamonds, each measuring 1.80 mm, are set at the ring’s border and total 0.08 carats. The band weighs 7 grams and is cast in 18K gold throughout.
Damaskos is an Athenian atelier that has worked within the vocabulary of ancient Greek and Byzantine goldsmithing for decades, treating historical technique as a living practice rather than a reference point. This ring is well-suited to daily wear — the martillé surface is forgiving of minor contact — and pairs naturally with other pieces from the Archaic line, including coordinating bracelets, earrings, and necklaces. Also available in all gold without the black platinum finish.
