Damaskos Archaic 18K Gold Ring with Greek Key
An 18K gold ring shaped by the Greek Key — an unbroken linear motif long associated with infinity. Granulation frames the meander pattern, and a hand-hammered martillé finish gives the surface a velvety, light-diffusing texture. Entirely handcrafted at the Damaskos atelier in Athens.
About The Product
This ring is built around the Meander, or Greek Key — a continuous, unbroken line that has appeared in Hellenic decoration without interruption for centuries. It is not an abstracted reference. The motif runs as a precise linear pattern across the band, bordered by granulation: the ancient technique of fusing tiny gold spheres to a surface without visible solder.
The band is finished with martillé, a hand-hammering process that creates an irregular, faceted surface. Unlike a polished finish, martillé catches light at varying angles, giving the gold a matte, almost velvety depth. The ring weighs 9.90 grams — substantial for daily wear — and is cast and finished entirely in 18K gold. No stones. No plating. The weight and the surface are the design.
Damaskos is a third-generation atelier based in Athens, working within techniques that trace directly to ancient Greek and Byzantine goldsmithing. Each ring is shaped and finished by hand. This piece wears equally well alone or paired with a Greek Key bracelet or earrings from the same Archaic series — the proportions are designed to stack and coordinate without matching too precisely.
