Damaskos Byzantine Braided 18K Gold Bracelet
A hand-woven 18K gold bracelet built on a braided chain technique rooted in Byzantine goldsmithing. The surface is decorated with small granulated Minoan rosettes — known as Rodakes — each one shaped and applied by hand in the Damaskos atelier in Athens.
About The Product
This bracelet is defined by two techniques working in concert: a hand-woven braided chain and a row of granulated Minoan Rodakes — the rosette motif that appears across ancient Greek goldwork from the Minoan period forward. It is not a cast piece. Every structural and decorative element is formed by hand.
The chain is woven by hand, link by link, using 18K gold. The Rodakes are built using granulation — an ancient process in which microscopic gold spheres are fused to a surface without solder, using heat and a copper-based bonding agent. The technique was used by Greek and Etruscan goldsmiths as early as the second millennium BC and requires exceptional control at the bench. The bracelet weighs 15 grams, with gold purity at 18K (75% pure gold).
Damaskos is one of the few remaining ateliers in Greece still practicing granulation at this level of precision. Each piece is made individually in Athens, where the studio has worked within the Byzantine and Archaic goldsmithing traditions for decades. The bracelet wears well daily and pairs directly with Rodakes rings, earrings, or a matching necklace from the Damaskos collection.
