Damaskos Archaic 18K Gold Ring with Granulation and Twisted Wires
18K gold worked in the archaic Greek tradition. A martillé finish gives the surface a velvety, hand-hammered texture, while applied granulation and twisted wire detail the band using techniques traced to ancient Greece. Shaped entirely by hand in the Damaskos atelier in Athens.
About The Product
This ring is built around two techniques that define ancient Greek goldsmithing: granulation and twisted wire. Tiny spheres of gold are fused to the band without solder, a process that demands exact temperature control and years of practice. Twisted wire frames those granules in precise relief. The result is a surface that reads differently in every light.
The band is finished with a martillé technique — a hand-hammered process that creates a fine, velvety texture across the gold surface. No two rings carry exactly the same pattern. The piece is cast and finished in 18K gold and weighs 8.1 grams. Both the weight and the finish contribute to how the ring sits and wears over time.
Damaskos is an Athens-based atelier with decades of work in archaic and Byzantine goldsmithing. Each piece is made by hand using methods passed through generations of Greek craft tradition. This ring pairs naturally with other pieces from the Damaskos archaic line — a bracelet, earrings, or necklace — and is designed for daily wear as much as for occasion dressing. It is the kind of piece that becomes more personal with time.
