Damaskos Byzantine 18K Gold Ring with Ruby & Diamonds (0,40ct diamonds)
A hand-hammered martillé finish gives this 18K gold ring its distinctive velvety texture. A natural oval ruby — 5x4mm — sits at the center, framed by granulation and a platinum border set with 42 round diamonds totaling 0.40ct.
About The Product
This Byzantine ring centers on a natural oval ruby measuring 5x4mm, set within a bed of granulation — the ancient goldsmithing technique of fusing tiny spheres of gold to create texture and relief around the stone. A platinum border encircles the band, set with 42 individual diamonds, each 1mm, totaling 0.40 carats.
The ring is worked entirely by hand in the Damaskos atelier. The martillé finish — achieved by striking the gold surface with a fine hammer to produce a softly pitted, light-diffusing texture — runs across the band and gives the piece its characteristic depth. This technique cannot be replicated by machine; each mark is placed by the maker. The ring is cast in 18K gold and weighs 9.70 grams.
Damaskos is an Athenian atelier that has worked in Byzantine and Archaic goldsmithing traditions for decades, producing pieces using techniques documented in ancient Greek workshops. This ring is designed for daily wear — the weight and construction are built to last — and is well suited as a long-term piece passed between generations.

The Damaskos Collection
Each ring in this collection is shaped entirely by hand in the Damaskos atelier in Athens — without molds, without machinery. The same workshop produces a full range of 18K gold pieces designed to be worn together: bracelets, earrings, and necklaces in matching Archaic and Byzantine styles.
