Damaskos Byzantine Meander 18K Gold Stud Earrings
Cast in 18K gold with a hand-applied martillé finish, these stud earrings feature the Greek Key — an unbroken Meander motif — bordered by granulation and centered with a Rodakas rosette. Every detail is shaped by hand in the Damaskos atelier in Athens.
About The Product
These stud earrings are built around one of ancient Greece’s most enduring motifs: the Meander, or Greek Key — a continuous, unbroken line long associated with the concept of infinity. A Rodakas, the classical Greek rosette, sits at the center, framed by a border of granulation. The result is a piece that reads as jewelry and as artifact.
Each earring is handcrafted in 18K gold by the Damaskos atelier and finished with a martillé technique — a hand-hammering process that creates a fine, velvety surface texture that catches light without gloss. Granulation, the ancient art of fusing tiny gold spheres to a metal surface without visible solder, defines the outer frame. Both techniques trace directly to goldsmithing traditions developed in archaic and Byzantine Greece. No two pairs are identical.
Damaskos is one of Athens’ foremost jewelry houses, producing exclusively handcrafted work in the tradition of Greek archaeological goldsmithing. These earrings wear well as a standalone piece or paired with the coordinating Meander bracelet, ring, or necklace from the same collection. They are made to be worn, and built to last as a working heirloom.
