Damaskos Byzantine Medallion 18K Gold Stud Earrings with Diamonds
18K gold stud earrings built on Byzantine medallion forms, decorated with granulation and twisted wire — techniques drawn directly from ancient Greek goldsmithing. Each earring is set with four 1.80mm diamonds at the frame and seven 1.40mm diamonds on the platinum detail.
About The Product
These stud earrings are structured around Byzantine medallion forms — compact, architectural, and finished with the dense surface work that defines Damaskos’s approach to ancient goldsmithing. Where many gold earrings rely on silhouette alone, these are built for close inspection.
The surface of each earring is worked in granulation — a process in which minute spheres of gold are fused to the base metal without solder, using a heat-bonding technique that dates to the third millennium BC. Twisted wire borders the medallion, hand-formed and set by the goldsmith before firing. The platinum detail at the center is set with seven round diamonds at 1.40mm each; four additional diamonds at 1.80mm frame the outer edge of each earring. All metal is 18K gold throughout, with white gold and platinum accents.
Damaskos is an Athenian atelier that has worked exclusively in ancient Greek goldsmithing techniques for decades. Every piece is made by hand in their Athens workshop — no casting from mass production molds. These earrings wear quietly as everyday pieces but carry the weight of jewelry that is meant to pass forward. They pair naturally with medallion pendants or ring designs from the same collection.
