Damaskos Greek Key Square Stud Earrings in 18K Gold
Square stud earrings in 18K gold, centered on the Meander — the ancient Greek Key motif representing infinity. A shiny linear pattern is framed by hand-applied granulation, finished with a martillé surface that gives the gold a distinctive velvety texture. Shaped entirely by hand in the Damaskos atelier in Athens.
About The Product
These square stud earrings are built around the Greek Key, or Meander — an unbroken linear motif used continuously in Greek decorative art for centuries as a symbol of infinity. The design is rendered in clean geometric form, with the pattern framed by granulation along the border and completed with a martillé finish across the surface.
The martillé technique involves hand-hammering the gold to create a fine, dimpled texture that scatters light evenly and gives the metal a velvety, matte-satin quality distinct from polished or high-shine gold. Granulation — the application of tiny fused gold spheres — is an ancient technique requiring precise heat control; no solder is used to attach each sphere, making every detail a product of direct hand skill. Each earring is crafted in 18K gold and weighs approximately 10 grams per pair, giving them a solid, substantial presence on the ear.
Damaskos is an Athenian atelier with deep roots in ancient Greek and Byzantine goldsmithing traditions, producing each piece using hand techniques passed down through generations of Greek craftsmen. These earrings wear well as a daily piece or alongside occasion dressing — they pair naturally with other Damaskos Archaic-series work, including coordinating rings, bracelets, and necklaces from the same collection.
